The distances to Visp are short and pleasant, and Visp has a lot to offer. Shopping, leisurely tours through the old town or into the surrounding vineyards, an adventure day at the Mühleye swimming pool or bike tours in the valley or “embrüf” all the way to the top. Visp is also the ideal base camp for the many tourist opportunities in the Upper Valais, all of which are easily accessible by public transport from Visp station.

Reach excursion destinations conveniently and safely

PostBus

Visp bus station is the starting point for many excursions in the Upper Valais. Several PostBus lines depart from Visp station and take you to your desired destination.

Simply enter your desired destination on the Swiss Post website, get on board and set off.

Railroad

Since the opening of the NRLA base tunnel, the small town has been a perfectly accessible starting point for excursions in the region.

With SBB or Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn train connections from Visp station, you can take to Zermatt, the Goms or Lake Geneva.

Night bus

The night bus on the Naters-Brig-Visp-Leuk-Salgesch route takes you home safely and comfortably on the valley floor.

It runs on Fridays and Saturdays during the night.

Regional traffic

The Matterhorn Gotthard Railway is a narrow-gauge railroad with a route network of 144 km in length in the cantons of Valais, Uri and Graubünden.

Shuttle train Täsch-Zermatt

Anyone traveling to Zermatt by car must park their car at the “Matterhorn Terminal” in Täsch. Private car traffic is only permitted as far as Täsch. Here you can change directly to the Zermatt Shuttle trains and reach the center of Zermatt, 5 km away, in just 12 minutes by train.

Gornergrat Railway

The cogwheel railroad takes you from the village of Zermatt up to 3,100 meters above sea level. The ride alone offers an indescribable view of the Matterhorn.

Matterhorn Gotthard Pass

The Matterhorn Gotthard Pass allows free use of train and bus routes in the Upper Valais. In addition, tickets for mountain railroads can be purchased at half price. The entire route network and further information can be found on the Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn website.

The pass can be purchased online or at staffed SBB stations.

Rent a bike

Visp is a biking hotspot. In summer, Visp is home to Ken’s Bike Shop bikes and mountain bikes can be hired in Visp.

Various Postbuses have a device for transporting mountain bikes. After a successful reservation , nothing stands in the way of a descent into the valley.
